About the role

Bamboohr is seeking a Management Accountant to become an integral part of their finance team and contribute to the company's financial planning and reporting functions. This role is designed for a detail-oriented professional who can translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for business leaders. The Management Accountant will be responsible for preparing accurate financial statements, supporting budgeting activities, and ensuring that all reporting meets both internal standards and external regulatory requirements. By working closely with department heads and senior management, the successful candidate will help drive strategic decision-making and support the long-term financial health of the organization.

What you'll do

• Prepare detailed monthly and quarterly financial reports for internal stakeholders and senior management review and analysis
• Analyze revenue streams, operating expenses, and profitability trends to identify areas for cost optimization and improvement
• Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process by providing accurate departmental financial data and variance commentary
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a regular basis and ensure the accuracy and completeness of all ledger entries
• Collaborate closely with operations and project teams to understand cost drivers and deliver actionable financial insights
• Monitor cash flow positions across business units and report on liquidity and working capital metrics to leadership
• Assist in the preparation of comprehensive management accounts including detailed variance analyses and commentary for each line item
• Maintain and continuously update financial models and spreadsheets used for internal decision-making and scenario planning purposes
• Coordinate with external auditors and advisors during periodic financial reviews and annual compliance assessment activities
• Develop interactive dashboards and scheduled reports to track key financial performance indicators and operational metrics
• Ensure strict adherence to internal financial controls, company policies, and established accounting procedures across all processes
• Participate actively in process improvement initiatives aimed at streamlining reporting workflows and enhancing overall financial operations
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis and support to cross-functional teams as requested by senior leadership
• Review and validate cost allocations and chargebacks to ensure accuracy and consistency with established methodologies

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field from an accredited institution is required
• Minimum of three to five years of professional experience in a management accounting or financial reporting capacity
• Strong working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, International Financial Reporting Standards, and financial reporting frameworks
• Demonstrated proficiency in advanced spreadsheet applications including complex formula construction, pivot tables, and data modeling techniques
• Hands-on experience with financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes within a corporate or professional services environment
• Proven ability to interpret complex financial data and present findings in a clear, concise manner to non-financial stakeholders
• Meticulous attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy in all financial documentation
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build productive relationships across multiple departments and organizational levels
• Experience working with enterprise-level financial systems and general ledger platforms in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining a high level of productivity

Nice to have

• Prior experience with enterprise resource planning or financial management software platforms such as SAP or Oracle is a strong advantage
• Knowledge of cost accounting methodologies, activity-based costing techniques, and transfer pricing principles is highly valued
• Familiarity with business intelligence and data visualization tools for presenting financial insights to leadership and cross-functional teams
• Prior experience working in a services-oriented, logistics, or supply chain-related industry setting is considered beneficial
• Professional certification such as CPA, CMA, or ACCA is a welcome addition to a candidate's qualifications

Skills & tools

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet modeling techniques including macros and automated reporting
• Hands-on experience with financial reporting systems, general ledger software, and enterprise accounting platforms
• Solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting methodologies and best practices
• Familiarity with data extraction, transformation, and reporting tools used for building management dashboards and scorecards
• Working knowledge of accounting software platforms such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or equivalent cloud-based solutions
• Strong analytical thinking and quantitative problem-solving abilities applied consistently to large numerical datasets and financial records
• Comfort with presenting financial results and trends to both technical and non-technical audiences in a clear format

Practical notes

• This position is part of the Bamboohr Services division and reports directly to the finance leadership team within the organization
• The role may require occasional adjustments to standard working hours during month-end close, quarter-end close, and annual reporting periods
• Candidates should be prepared to work independently on detailed financial tasks while also collaborating effectively with multiple departments across the company
• The hiring process may include a technical accounting assessment, a case study exercise, and a series of structured interviews with finance and operations leaders
