About the role

The Air Reservations team is looking for a backend engineer to manage the core systems that process flight bookings globally. You will build and maintain high-scale services that connect airline suppliers with traveler demand, ensuring reliability for millions of monthly transactions.

What you'll do

• Develop and test backend services using advanced API design, data modeling, and low-level system architecture.
• Lead technical execution for complex projects by translating ambiguous requirements into scalable, functional code.
• Define architectural standards to ensure high performance, security, and long-term maintainability of production systems.
• Collaborate with product and cross-functional teams to improve development workflows and operational efficiency.
• Manage service health through monitoring, observability, and incident resolution to maintain system reliability.
• Integrate AI and machine learning solutions into real-world travel products.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Proven track record of owning services throughout the development lifecycle, including delivery and operational performance.
• Deep understanding of software fundamentals such as testing, debugging, and secure coding practices.
• Experience working within distributed or service-oriented architectures with a focus on technical trade-offs.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Java, specifically Spring or Spring Boot, and REST or gRPC protocols.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL database design and query optimization.
• Ability to lead technical design for new capabilities and complex service enhancements.
• Background in incident management, root-cause analysis, and improving availability metrics.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code review processes.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of asynchronous processing and streaming tools like Kafka, Kinesis, or SQS.
• Experience with high-availability e-commerce or transactional systems.
