About the role

Exa is developing a search engine for artificial intelligence. This role focuses on ensuring developers discover Exa through various channels, including social media, search engines, and AI recommendations. You will drive organic discovery by creating a consistent stream of technical content.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Produce a weekly series of technical content for engineers, including tutorials, benchmarks, architecture deep dives, comparisons, and release commentary.
• Manage Exa's visibility in AI-generated responses by structuring content for citations and tracking citation rates across major AI models.
• Define the organic topic map, including target questions and keywords, content architecture, and internal linking strategies.
• Develop the technical narrative for search, retrieval, and agents, explaining how retrieval quality is measured and why agents require different search types.
• Report on organic discovery metrics, connecting content performance to pipeline, including sessions, signups, and AI citation tracking.
• Design and automate the content production pipeline from idea generation to publication, including research, drafting, code examples, and fact-checking.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience writing technical content for developers at an API-first, infrastructure, or developer tools company.
• A public portfolio of personally authored technical content.
• Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality content.
• Practical developer skills, including reading code, calling APIs, running benchmarks, and creating small demos.
• A developed understanding of answer engine optimization, supported by prior experiments and measurements.
• Familiarity with technical SEO principles and content analytics.
• Experience building AI-powered research and writing pipelines, with an understanding of when human input is essential.

Nice to have

• An academic background in engineering, data science, or a quantitative field.
• Experience publishing benchmarks or evaluations and managing feedback.
• Expertise in search, retrieval, RAG, or agent frameworks.
• Skills in multimedia content creation, such as video tutorials, conference presentations, or live streams.
• Experience growing an organic channel from its early stages at a startup.
