Middle Support Engineer at Everstar
About the role
This role supports a client in the defense sector that produces equipment and radio-electronic devices. You will join a growing IT administration team focused on enhancing operational effectiveness.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Handle escalated technical issues across software, workstations, networks, and internal IT systems.
- Diagnose and repair hardware, including component replacement and upgrades for PCs and laptops.
- Set up and maintain peripheral devices such as network multifunction printers, scanners, label printers, and mobile devices.
- Install, configure, and support both standard and specialized software applications.
- Prepare new workstations for onboarding, including automated OS deployment and software installation based on user roles.
- Manage IT equipment inventory, including receiving, issuing, tracking, and processing transfer documents.
- Gather technical data, logs, and diagnostic results for escalation to other teams.
Requirements
- Diagnose network issues, distinguishing between PC, switch, and router problems, and utilize network diagnostic tools. Understand physical network layers and core concepts like protocols, web services, routing, DHCP, DNS, and VPN.
- Install and support Windows 10/11, macOS, and Linux, including troubleshooting, fixing issues, and data recovery. Use command-line tools for OS diagnostics.
- Troubleshoot software installations and issues, understanding licensing models, client-server architecture, and cloud/SaaS principles.
- Diagnose hardware failures, identify defects in storage, memory, and other components, and test/replace parts in PCs, MFPs, and network equipment.
- Prepare for incident escalation by collecting logs, traces, error reports, and detailed descriptions of issues.
- Possess advanced knowledge of Windows 10/11 Pro administration, including registry, services, group policies, and access rights, as well as macOS and Linux.
- Experience with user data migration and backup tools.
- Understand Active Directory at the client level, including domains, GPO application, groups, and OUs.
- Solid understanding of computer network principles, protocols, network classes, and services.
- Knowledge of client-server architecture and database connectivity.
- Skills in configuring Android/iOS mobile devices for corporate use, including MDM profiles and email agents.
- Experience with data recovery tools.
- Experience using ServiceDesk systems.
- Familiarity with ITIL principles, incident lifecycle, and equipment lifecycle.
- Understanding of information security fundamentals, including experience with firewalls, access controls, antivirus, data encryption, and access control systems.
