Staff/Principal Product Designer, Partnerships

About the role

Ethos is seeking a skilled product designer to shape the next generation of our offerings. You will contribute to both new product development and the optimization of existing core services. This role involves leading design strategy and execution within our Partnerships team to drive business expansion.

What you'll do

• Guide design strategy across multiple product areas
• Help define the vision for the overall user experience
• Create new products and refine current ones
• Balance small-scale projects with significant initiatives that elevate the product
• Manage executive stakeholders from engineering, product, marketing, and other departments
• Improve the product development process with cross-functional partners
• If at the Principal level, mentor and guide the work of other designers
• Participate in the shift towards an AI-augmented product building model

Requirements

• At least 7 years of Product Design experience (10 years for Principal level)
• Minimum of 2 years at a venture-funded, private startup
• For Principal level, at least 2 years in a role influencing others' work through direct or indirect leadership
• The majority of your experience should be in-house, working on direct-to-consumer products
• Experience in a fast-paced, experiment-driven environment
• Ability to determine when to apply the full design process and when to streamline it, consistently delivering excellent results
• Clear articulation of design decision rationale, demonstrating intentionality and rigorous thought
• Proven ability to measure the impact of your work on business outcomes
• A strong portfolio showcasing rapid execution, high-quality work, interaction details, storytelling, visual polish, and content design
• A history of improving design practices within teams you've been a part of
• Experience leading projects from discovery, problem definition, ideation, and validation through engineering implementation and measurement
• Experience launching entirely new products, not just iterating on existing ones
