About the role
Ethos is looking for a driven and hands-on Director of Corporate Accounting to lead and refine our accounting operations. This position is suitable for a high-performing Senior Accounting Manager ready for advancement. The role requires deep technical accounting knowledge, a focus on efficiency, and a commitment to GAAP and SOX 404 compliance.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Act as a key strategic partner to the Senior Director of Corporate Accounting, independently managing daily corporate accounting functions.
- Oversee month-end close, global consolidation, intercompany transactions, and financial reporting with precision and speed.
- Investigate complex accounting discrepancies, reconcile accounts, and resolve issues at a root cause level.
- Identify and implement technology, automation, and AI solutions to improve accounting processes and scale the finance infrastructure.
- Serve as the internal expert on technical accounting matters, ensuring adherence to US GAAP and coordinating external audits.
- Develop and enhance financial controls and processes to support business growth and stability.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a global accounting team across different time zones.
- Collaborate with FP&A, Legal, Operations, and Executive Leadership to provide financial insights for strategic decisions.
- Support ad-hoc projects, including system implementations and process improvements, offering strategic and practical guidance.
Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles in a rapidly growing company.
- At least 3 years of experience in a publicly traded or late-stage pre-IPO company is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience building and managing accounting teams across multiple time zones.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Expert understanding of US GAAP, financial statement preparation, multi-entity consolidations, and SOX 404 compliance.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, particularly NetSuite.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a history of identifying financial anomalies and ensuring data integrity.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and take ownership of tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for cross-functional collaboration.
- A proactive leader comfortable with ambiguity, building structure, and balancing strategic thinking with execution.

- Hands-on experience with, or a strong interest in, integrating artificial intelligence (AI) tools into accounting workflows.
