Senior EM/IR Engineer
Job description
About the role
Position Overview
E-Space invites you to define the next era of global connectivity. Our mission is to make connectivity from space universally accessible, secure, and actionable. We are constructing a sophisticated low Earth orbit (LEO) space system designed to revolutionize the economics and delivery of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. This role is central to our ambition of deploying hyper-scaled networks that deliver actionable intelligence, driving economic growth, protecting our planet and space, and enhancing quality of life.
We are seeking a highly skilled EM/IR Engineer to join our core engineering team. In this capacity, you will be responsible for the design, simulation, and verification of high-performance digital, analog, and RF integrated circuits. These solutions target critical applications including 5G, IoT, and satellite communications. You will work alongside cross-functional partners to translate abstract concepts into tangible silicon, ensuring every product meets exacting standards for quality, performance, and reliability.
Core Responsibilities
You will architect verification strategies for radio frequency blocks and develop sophisticated testbenches to characterize orbital communication hardware. A primary duty involves translating mission-level requirements into precise silicon models, working closely with operations and manufacturing teams to ensure feasibility. You will lead debugging initiatives, aligning prototype measurement data with regulatory constraints and demanding deployment schedules.
Your technical scope includes designing analog macros that meet stringent noise and linearity targets across various thermal and voltage conditions. You will guide electromagnetic simulations to validate antenna integration ahead of tapeout timelines. also, you will establish rigorous measurement routines to verify protocol compliance across multiple frequency bands.
Collaboration is integral to this position. You will coordinate with firmware teams to align register interfaces and timing models, ensuring seamless integration. You will implement comprehensive testbenches to exercise error correction and link management features. Close collaboration with operations teams will ensure test vectors support production validation steps. Your work will also support sampling activities, confirming radiation tolerance and in-orbit performance.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must hold a degree in electrical engineering or a closely related technical field. The role requires a minimum of three years of hands-on experience with Verilog or VHDL for digital design tasks. Equivalent experience with SystemVerilog or e is essential for verification activities. Proficiency in C or Python is required for developing automated test solutions.
A strong background is needed in RF simulation or circuit design tools, demonstrating practical application in a laboratory environment. You must have a proven track record of characterizing radio blocks under test conditions. A deep understanding of communication standards that define protocol layers and framing formats is mandatory. This role requires flexibility, including the ability to submit to extended work hours during critical orbital testing campaigns.
Preferred Expertise and Tools
Prior experience with hardware description languages is highly valued, as it reduces onboarding time for complex projects and accelerates time-to-results.
Proficiency with the following tools and technologies is essential for success in this role:
Verilog
VHDL
SystemVerilog
e
Python
C
MATLAB
Simulink
ADS
HFSS
