About the role
As a Recovery Coach at Equip, you will be a vital support system for individuals navigating their eating disorder recovery journey. You will help patients integrate into our treatment program by ensuring they understand and follow their care plans, actively participating in their recovery process. Your role involves identifying and resolving obstacles to treatment, tailoring our services to individual needs, and equipping patients with essential recovery skills.

What you'll do
- Lead individual and group sessions focused on building recovery skills for patients and their caregivers.
- Employ motivational techniques to encourage patient engagement with their treatment plans and track progress.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team during regular meetings to discuss and support patient advancement.
- Actively listen to patients and caregivers, guiding them in anticipating potential challenges and developing coping strategies.
- Manage your availability to allow patients and caregivers to schedule appointments.
- Conduct proactive outreach, follow up on missed appointments, send reminders, and provide support to ensure consistent engagement with the care plan.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues that hinder treatment adherence, offering practical solutions.
- Contribute to the personalization of care plans by suggesting program activities, coordinating additional care team sessions, facilitating meal support, and recommending relevant resources.
- Cultivate trusting and respectful relationships with patients.
- Document all patient and caregiver interactions accurately and promptly according to company policies.
- Attend internal meetings and participate in assigned training sessions.
Requirements
- Personal lived experience in eating disorder recovery, demonstrating a stable recovery status.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience providing direct patient support in a structured care environment, such as coaching, case management, mentorship, social work, or milieu therapy.
- Demonstrated ability to work within established care models and evidence-based protocols.
- Proven capacity to balance adherence to structured protocols with the flexibility to meet patients at their current stage while guiding them toward their goals.
- A history of taking ownership of patient care plans and utilizing evidence-based approaches to keep patients on track and achieve milestones.
- Experience assisting patients and families in reaching treatment objectives by identifying and overcoming barriers.
- Ability to connect with a diverse range of individuals from various backgrounds.
- A commitment to evidence-based care and a willingness to learn and develop new coaching skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with the capacity to build effective professional relationships.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with a proven ability to meet objectives.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Comfort with technology and a readiness to learn new systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote setting, including being on camera during sessions.
- Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to think critically to navigate challenges in a dynamic environment.
- Availability to provide 33 hours of direct patient care weekly, including new patient intakes and follow-up sessions.
- Commitment to working two evenings per week until 8 PM, chosen by you.
Nice to have
- Experience with Family-Based Treatment, Enhanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for ARFID.
