Enthought, Inc. is seeking a Scientific Software Developer to become part of our solution delivery team that interacts directly with clients. In this role, you will integrate your scientific knowledge with advanced AI coding tools to transform research inquiries into functional software, focusing on creating data-driven models, AI decision-support systems, and analytical workflows for top research and development organizations globally.

What you'll do

• Develop comprehensive scientific solutions by utilizing your expertise in statistics, optimization, machine learning, and related disciplines to convert client R&D challenges into cohesive architectures that encompass data, models, and user interfaces.
• Employ AI coding assistants and autonomous coding agents as your primary tools to analyze data, prototype models, create software, write tests, and generate documentation, thereby streamlining the transition from research inquiries to functional solutions.
• Lead AI agents as a technical guide by breaking down scientific and engineering challenges into manageable tasks, providing necessary domain context and scientific parameters, and refining results through iterative processes.
• Collaborate closely with client researchers and business leaders to address intricate research and product development issues.
• Construct data-driven models, AI decision-support tools, and automated analysis workflows, integrating them into web-based platforms featuring graphical user interfaces, 2D and 3D visualizations, and cloud computing capabilities.
• Incorporate AI-enabled features into client solutions where appropriate, ensuring they meet the same standards of rigor as other components.
• Evaluate the applicability of AI and generative methods, balancing the need for speed with the requirements for reliability and reproducibility.
• Participate in collaborative development practices, including code and architecture reviews, sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily standups, while engaging directly with clients to define, showcase, and enhance solutions.
• Manage client data and intellectual property with care, utilizing AI tools only in approved and secure environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in scientific software development or a similar role.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks.
• Strong understanding of statistics, optimization techniques, and machine learning principles.
• Familiarity with web development technologies and cloud computing platforms.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI coding assistants or similar technologies.
• Knowledge of data visualization tools and techniques.
