About the role
Enigma is seeking an AI Research Scientist to bridge the gap between theoretical experimentation and production-ready machine learning systems. You will focus on developing and validating advanced models while maintaining rigorous evaluation standards for our core technology.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Plan and run machine learning experiments while setting clear performance baselines and metrics.
- Monitor current AI research to find and implement new methods relevant to our product goals.
- Create testing frameworks including offline metrics, user feedback loops, and adversarial red teaming.
- Manage data annotation workflows, including setting guidelines and ensuring data quality.
- Partner with product managers and engineers to define technical constraints and project goals.
- Build internal research tools, including datasets, modular code, and evaluation suites.
- Coordinate with ML engineers to move research models into production environments.
- Write academic papers and engage with the broader research community.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or a related field is preferred; Master's degree holders with significant experience are welcome to apply.
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience in AI or ML research, specifically in product-focused settings.
- Proven track record of taking research projects through to production deployment.
- Experience working within cross-functional teams involving research, engineering, and product stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of machine learning and deep learning theory.
- Practical experience with fine-tuning techniques including PEFT, LoRA, and adapters.
- Experience with RLHF or RLAIF methods like PPO, DPO, and GRPO.
- Strong mathematical background in linear algebra, calculus, and probability.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or Java.
Nice to have
- Authorship of papers in major conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, or CVPR.
- Specialized knowledge in symbolic reasoning, speech processing, or natural language processing.
