About the role
Energyworldnet is seeking a dedicated Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our dynamic team in Decatur, Texas. As an SRE, you will collaborate closely with software engineers and other stakeholders to enhance our infrastructure and streamline our operations. What you'll do
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure to support our applications and services.
- Monitor system performance and reliability, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact users.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate reliability into the software development lifecycle, ensuring that new features are built with operational excellence in mind.
- Automate manual processes and tasks to improve efficiency and reduce the risk of human error.
- Develop and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to provide real-time insights into system health and performance.
- Participate in on-call rotations, providing support for production incidents and ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Conduct root cause analysis for incidents, documenting findings and implementing preventive measures to avoid future occurrences.
- Engage in capacity planning and performance tuning to ensure that our systems can handle growth and increased demand.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, processes, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing across the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive initiatives that enhance system reliability and performance.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in site reliability engineering, applying relevant knowledge to improve our practices.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging feedback and innovative ideas from team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a site reliability engineering or similar role, with a strong focus on system reliability and performance.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java, with experience in writing and maintaining code.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and container orchestration technologies (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) to ensure system health and performance.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, including DNS, TCP/IP, and firewalls.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of security best practices and experience with implementing security measures in cloud environments.
- Previous experience in the energy sector or related industries.
- Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in the tech community.
