The Policy & Regulatory Affairs Manager will own the development and execution of Emerald AI's policy and regulatory strategy in the energy and AI sectors. This role will translate complex regulatory shifts into actionable insights that directly inform corporate strategy and decision-making. The manager will serve as a critical bridge between external policy environments and internal business objectives, ensuring alignment and proactive adaptation. What you'll do

Monitor and analyze policy developments across relevant jurisdictions, including energy, infrastructure, AI, and technology policy domains.

Translate regulatory changes into clear business impact assessments, providing concise recommendations to internal stakeholders from product to executive leadership.

Support the development of policy strategy by identifying critical risks, high-value opportunities, and prioritizing specific engagement areas for the company.

Draft authoritative policy materials such as briefing notes, consultation responses, position papers, and executive memos to communicate Emerald AI's perspectives.

Engage proactively with external stakeholders, including regulators, policymakers, industry associations, and strategic partners to build relationships and influence discourse.

Coordinate cross-functional alignment by collaborating closely with legal, product, operations, and leadership teams to ensure integrated policy approaches.

Support public advocacy efforts, including organizing meetings, submitting formal responses, and contributing to public-facing initiatives on AI and energy policy.

Maintain deep expertise in relevant regulatory frameworks to anticipate changes and guide the company in emerging markets and jurisdictions.

Evaluate the policy positions of regulators and industry groups to identify alignment and divergence with Emerald AI's mission and operational goals.

Champion the integration of policy insights into product and go-to-market strategies to ensure sustainable scaling of AI data center operations.

Provide regular updates and strategic briefings to leadership to inform high-stakes decisions regarding expansion, compliance, and engagement priorities.

Act as a subject matter expert within the policy and energy technology ecosystem, representing Emerald AI in relevant forums and discussions.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in public policy, government affairs, regulatory affairs, or a closely related field within government agencies, consultancies, think tanks, or in-house corporate environments.

A strong understanding of regulatory processes, stakeholder landscapes, and the interplay between policy formulation and implementation is essential for success in this position.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, with the demonstrated ability to distill complex policy issues into clear, concise, and actionable narratives for diverse audiences.

Direct experience drafting policy documents or actively engaging in formal regulatory processes is a mandatory qualification for this role.

Comfort with operating in ambiguity and thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where priorities can shift rapidly is necessary.

Proven ability to work effectively across multiple functions, influencing partners without formal authority to achieve shared objectives.

Demonstrated experience in sectors directly relevant to Emerald AI's focus areas, including energy, infrastructure, and AI or technology policy, is required.

A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct and judgment when managing sensitive policy discussions and stakeholder relationships.

Experience working with or before state Public Utility Commissions and/or the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is strongly preferred.

Familiarity with Independent System Operators or Regional Transmission Organizations (ISO/RTOs), such as PJM or ERCOT, is highly valued.

Direct experience engaging before regulators or government officials at the federal or state level is a significant advantage.

Background at a high-growth company or organizations actively scaling in regulated industries is preferred.
