About the role
Element Biosciences is seeking a Manager, Field Applications for the EMEA region who will own the strategic execution of customer success in assigned territories. The hired individual will directly enable customer adoption and proficiency with the company's suite of products through expert troubleshooting and consultative engagement. The manager will act as a critical interface between the customer community and internal product development organizations, translating real-world feedback into actionable insights. What you'll do
- Frequently traveling to customer sites to provide on-site support and build strong working relationships.
- Troubleshooting intricate issues that span user technical skills, biochemistry, assay design, experimental design, software configurations, and instrument performance.
- Supporting commercial teams and customers by translating complex product capabilities into clear training and application guidance.
- Displaying unwavering professionalism, tact, and fairness while maintaining technical credibility in all stakeholder interactions.
- Providing strategic, data-driven feedback to marketing and product development teams based on field insights and leading or managing beta test programs at customer sites.
- Working autonomously on unique, high-level problems that require collaboration with key decision-makers and senior leadership to shape future product roadmaps.
- Mentoring and leading a team of Field Application Scientists to elevate their technical and coaching abilities.
- Traveling alongside team members to develop their hands-on training and troubleshooting competencies in real-world settings.
- Leading regional team calls to construct tactical frameworks that precisely address the evolving needs of the EMEA market.
- Assisting sales and marketing in both pre-sales and post-sales strategic activities that demand deep technical mastery and market awareness.
- Collaborating with cross-functional leaders to refine internal processes and enable scalable, efficient operations across regions.
- Delivering comprehensive customer training and workshops through in-person and remote formats to ensure optimal method adoption.
- Utilizing service CRM software to accurately identify, document, and track customer opportunities and engagement outcomes.
- Collaborating with internal partners to resolve customer issues promptly and to drive continuous process improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree with 10+ years, Masters degree with 8+ years or PhD with 6+ years in NGS library construction (a combination of experience and education may be considered).
- Hands-on experience with cell culture and tissue handling is required.
- Experience with NGS sequencing instrument and sequencing run set up, along with NGS sample and library prep workflows, is preferred.
- Must be highly motivated and demonstrate strong problem-solving ability in complex technical environments.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, trust-based relationships are essential.
- Highly collaborative and adaptable; capable of performing effectively within multidisciplinary teams and shifting priorities.
- Skilled in nucleic acids and protein analytical methods relevant to life science applications.
- Experience with single cell protocols and cell culture for multiomics workflows is a stated requirement.
- Must generate high quality and reproducible wet-lab data when following established protocols.
- High degree of comfort navigating technical project discussions with scientific stakeholders.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision while also thriving as a collaborative team player.
- Demonstrated account management skills and a track record of owning complex customer engagements.
- English speaking ability is required, and proficiency in a second language is preferable.
Practical notes
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as part of routine field support activities.
- Must be flexible in working hours as this position may require customer support during non-regular business hours to meet service commitments.
- The role is classified as remote, with a specific expectation that the candidate is physically located within the DACH region to ensure optimal coverage and support responsiveness.
- This position reports to the Sr Manager, Field Applications and is integral to the regional success plan for EMEA.
- Frequent travel to customer sites across the EMEA territory is an essential component of this role, enabling deep engagement and on-the-ground support.
