About the role
Eight Sleep is building the future of sleep fitness through advanced hardware and AI. We are looking for a creative Video Editor to manage our athlete storytelling from initial concept to final delivery. You will work on everything from rapid social media content to high-end cinematic films featuring top-tier athletes. This role is responsible for shaping raw footage into compelling narratives that highlight the intersection of performance, technology, and human effort. You will act as the primary visual storyteller for our athlete journeys, ensuring each edit communicates the intensity and emotion of the subject. The position requires a balance between artistic vision and operational efficiency to meet tight production timelines. You will translate complex training concepts into clear, visually engaging stories for a global audience. Ultimately, your work will define how the world sees the science and sweat behind every breakthrough.

What you'll do
Develop detailed edit plans that align with campaign objectives and athlete narrative arcs.
Conduct in-depth reviews of raw footage to identify the most powerful moments and emotional beats.
Shape storyboards and shot lists to ensure coverage aligns with the creative vision before production.
Edit high-impact social media clips optimized for rapid consumption and platform-specific formats.
Collaborate with directors and producers to refine the visual language of each project.
Conduct sound design and color grading adjustments to maintain visual consistency across all deliverables.
Coordinate with athletes and stakeholders to gather feedback and iterate efficiently on tight deadlines.
Oversee the final color grade and audio mix to ensure broadcast-quality output for all films.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet aggressive publishing schedules.
Maintain a consistent archive of project files to ensure smooth handoffs and future revisions.
Optimize video assets for both long-form cinematic releases and short-form social distribution.
Monitor the performance of published content and use insights to refine future editorial approaches.
Ensure all footage is handled with strict attention to data management and backup protocols.
Act as a bridge between the production team and the marketing department to align on messaging.
Continuously seek new techniques and technologies to elevate the visual storytelling of athlete content.
Requirements
Possess 3 to 5 years of professional experience in sports, brand, or editorial video production.
Build a portfolio that clearly demonstrates both conceptual creative thinking and strong technical editing skills.
Show deep familiarity with sports culture and an ability to identify what makes a sports story resonate.
Work autonomously, taking a brief and delivering finished work without the need for constant oversight.
Travel frequently across Europe for shoots, events, and races as required by project needs.
Be based in Milan or be willing to relocate to the region to ensure consistent onsite presence.
Maintain fluency in Italian or English to communicate effectively with international teams and stakeholders.
Have a genuine passion for sports storytelling and an understanding of the nuances within athletic performance.
Nice to have
Experience with athlete profiling and documentary-style storytelling would be highly relevant.
Knowledge of sports performance metrics and how they relate to visual storytelling.
Familiarity with DaVinci Resolve and Adobe After Effects for advanced color grading and motion graphics.
Ability to manage sound design elements to enhance the emotional impact of the footage.
Experience working with brands in the sports or wellness sectors to understand commercial constraints.

The role requires a balance of speed and craft, with the ability to handle same-day edits when necessary.
