Strategic Sourcing Manager

About the role

You will act as the primary link between the engineering department and our suppliers to define electronics procurement strategies. This role involves managing supplier development, contract negotiations, and escalation processes within our Munich-based team.

What you'll do

• Manage the end-to-end purchasing strategy for electronics, including sensors, LED strips, brake resistors, and PCBA.
• Build and maintain a supplier portfolio using multi-sourcing strategies while planning for capacity, scaling, and regional footprints across Asia, Europe, and North America.
• Collaborate with development teams on design-to-cost initiatives to optimize component costs and complexity.
• Define global commodity strategies and establish timelines for supplier onboarding and ramp-ups.
• Lead contract negotiations and serve as the main point of contact for commercial issues, quality concerns, and availability escalations.
• Develop risk management strategies to ensure production continuity during supply chain disruptions.

Requirements

• Completed vocational training in mechatronics or electrical engineering, or a university degree in engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in technical procurement, specifically working with engineers and suppliers during product development.
• Existing network of manufacturers, distributors, and EMS providers, including contract manufacturers and semiconductor firms.
• Proficient in BOM management tools (ideally Arena) and SAP, with experience using supplier scorecards.
• Technical ability to interpret PCBA data packages and perform cost calculations for electronic systems.
• Fluency in German (C1) and English (B2).
• Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time based on project requirements.
