SEM Manager
Job description
About the role
The role owns the paid search engine that generates pipeline and revenue for the e-learning scale-up. It operates in a hybrid workplace in Dubai inside the Revenue department. Success is measured by efficiency in pipeline and revenue, not by click volume.
Marketing teams grow awareness and demand for a company's products. They write copy, run campaigns, manage channels, and measure results. The work spans content, paid ads, email, events, and search. Marketing roles combine creativity with data and constant testing. Marketing teams usually run experiments every week and keep the work that performs. Most companies hire specialists in channels such as paid search, email, or content.
Key facts
What you'll do
This work connects ad accounts to the CRM so algorithms prioritize real pipeline and revenue outcomes. Multilingual campaigns across multiple markets run to support regional growth objectives. Conversion tracking and data quality are owned end to end, covering Enhanced Conversions, server-side tracking, and attribution models. Structured experiments turn results into a clear, ongoing roadmap for paid search improvement. Budget oversight includes forecasting and managing monthly spend to meet efficiency targets. Continuous market monitoring through keyword research and competitor tracking keeps the strategy adaptive.
Requirements
5+ years of SEM or paid search experience with advanced, at-scale execution in Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising. Hands-on use of AI for scaling, including Smart Bidding, Performance Max, scripts, or similar tools. Strong CRO skills and proven experience testing landing pages and conversion paths. Sharp analytical ability demonstrated in Looker Studio or similar platforms, with SQL or spreadsheet modeling as a plus. Clear understanding of conversion tracking, attribution, and value-based bidding methods. Experience managing campaigns across multiple markets and languages in a regulated environment. Background in a tech start-up or scale-up, ideally B2B SaaS, with responsibility for the full funnel and unit economics such as CAC, LTV, and payback period. A Bachelor's degree or higher in marketing or another quantitative, test-driven discipline. Excellent written and spoken English skills, with German, French, or Italian as an advantage. A documented growth mindset that favors fast experimentation, learning from failures, and persistent performance improvement.
Practical notes
The role is hybrid and based in Dubai, with employment classified as full_time. Typical interview steps
Marketing interviews often include a portfolio review, a campaign exercise, and analytics questions. Candidates may be asked to plan a launch, write a brief, or improve a funnel. Some loops include a presentation. Results from past campaigns carry the most weight. Interviewers ask about specific campaigns you ran and what the numbers said. Preparing a short case of one campaign with its results is strong preparation.
Good to know
SEM roles rely heavily on analytics tools and data discipline. Teams in Revenue often collaborate closely with Product Marketing and Sales. Experimentation and rapid iteration are common in fast-growing EdTech environments. Modern paid search uses AI to assist bidding and creative testing. Clear conversion tracking and clean data foundations are prerequisites for measurable growth.
Questions to ask
Useful questions for the interview: what a typical week looks like, how work is assigned, what tools the team uses, and how feedback works. Asking how the role has changed recently and what the team wishes it had known when joining is also reasonable. Questions about the manager's priorities are especially valued.
Career growth
Marketing careers move from associate to manager, director, and VP levels. Specializations include growth, brand, product marketing, and content. Generalists often start, then specialize as they advance. Measured impact on pipeline and revenue drives progression. Marketing careers reward measurable results and adaptability. Channel experience plus business sense usually beats a general resume.
