Senior/Staff Backend Engineer

About the role

DualEntry is developing the operating system for business finance, aiming to modernize a market dominated by outdated technology. We are seeking a seasoned backend engineer to contribute to building our AI-native ERP system, automating accounting processes from data input to financial close.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Design and construct backend systems and APIs, primarily using Python, to manage intricate, real-time accounting operations.
• Take ownership of features from initial architecture and development through to deployment, including testing, continuous integration and delivery, and ongoing monitoring.
• Integrate with external services and third-party applications, anticipating and addressing potential complexities and risks.

Requirements

• A strong work ethic and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in backend engineering, with proficiency in any programming language.
• Extensive experience developing products with complex business logic.
• Solid understanding of database management, including PostgreSQL, SQL, ORMs, schema design, and migration processes.
• Proven experience deploying applications on cloud platforms like AWS, coupled with a good grasp of CI/CD pipelines and production readiness.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Python and modern web frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
