Dream Games is hiring a 2D Technical Director to join its expanding animation studio in London. You will develop technical solutions for creative teams, partnering with editorial, production, and artists to move their work from pixels to the big screen. Key facts
What you'll do
- Serve as the go-to technical resource for image and 2D pipeline questions across the animation studio
- Assist the edit and story team with panel ingestion, exports, and work tracking
- Oversee playlists and cuts for internal animation teams and external vendors
- Integrate and refine third-party review tools to make review sessions open and accessible studio-wide
- Set up burnins, slates, and HUDs to support transcoding and automated processes
- Maintain colour workflows, including OCIO configuration
- Identify and roll out new workflows or tools, including AI-based solutions, to improve creative output
- Represent story and editorial in workflow decisions and cross-departmental technical discussions
- Provide workflow and technical guidance to artists, editorial staff, and production
Requirements
- Deep knowledge of image manipulation and data orchestration for VFX or feature animation, backed by hands-on production experience
- Strong proficiency with core editorial tools such as Avid and openRV
- Familiarity with exchange formats including AAF, XML, and OTIO
- Skilled in Python and Qt
- Understanding of production management tools
- Working knowledge of OCIO and colour pipelines
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and tight deadlines
- Experience collaborating with internal teams and external vendors
- Strong appreciation for teamwork, storytelling, animation, and games
