About the role
Doola is seeking a detail-oriented tax professional to support our CPA in managing client tax filings. This role is crucial for ensuring our international entrepreneurs remain compliant with US tax regulations. You will play a key part in the accuracy and quality of business tax returns.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Examine federal and state business income tax returns prepared by colleagues, verifying accuracy, completeness, and adherence to tax laws.
- Pinpoint errors, inconsistencies, or missing information, offering constructive feedback and direction to those preparing the returns.
- Scrutinize tax calculations, supporting documents, and client data before final submission.
- Collaborate with tax preparers to resolve technical tax issues and enhance the quality of filings.
- Assist with intricate tax matters, respond to tax notices, process amendments, and address client inquiries.
- Communicate directly with clients through email and video calls to gather necessary clarifications or provide tax guidance.
- Work with the wider Tax team to meet filing deadlines, especially during peak tax season.
- Research US federal and state tax regulations to ensure correct tax treatment.
- Contribute to the improvement of internal tax processes, documentation, and quality assurance standards.
Requirements
- Hold an active Enrolled Agent (EA) license or a CPA license.
- Possess an active PTIN or be able to obtain one before the tax season begins.
- Have prior experience reviewing federal and state business income tax returns.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of business tax compliance, including quarterly estimated payments, handling tax notices, and resolving tax disputes.
- Be proficient with Form 1120, Form 5472, and Form 1065, with a focus on non-US business owners and partnerships.
- Possess the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues in a remote setting, including participating in video meetings.
- Exhibit strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Possess excellent organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic startup environment.
- Communicate fluently in written and spoken English.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities.
