The Senior RF Test Engineer will own the end-to-end validation and verification of high-performance RF and mmWave components, ensuring they meet stringent mission-critical specifications. You will collaborate closely with design and fabrication teams to translate theoretical models into reliable, real-world hardware solutions. This role demands a hands-on expert who can diagnose complex test anomalies and drive iterative improvements in device performance. You will be responsible for developing robust test methodologies that support next-generation sensor development from prototype to qualification. Key facts
What you'll do
- Execute advanced RF and mmWave component test protocols across wafer-level and packaged device stages using state-of-the-art instrumentation.
- Characterize electrical performance, noise figures, and power-handling capabilities to validate adherence to rigorous aerospace and defense specifications.
- Collaborate with design engineers to refine schematic and layout implementations based on empirical test data and electromagnetic simulation results.
- Maintain and evolve process design kits (PDK) to ensure accuracy and consistency across device modeling and production flows.
- Perform failure analysis and root cause investigation for anomalous test results, documenting findings for cross-functional design and manufacturing teams.
- Develop and automate test procedures to increase throughput, repeatability, and data fidelity in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Interface directly with program managers and customers to present technical findings, discuss trade-offs, and support procurement decisions.
- Evaluate emerging RF and microwave assembly techniques, including wirebonding and hybrid integration, to support module-level integration efforts.
- Leverage high-frequency simulation tools such as ADS, MWO, HFSS, and CST to correlate modeled performance with measured results.
- Contribute to the qualification and certification of RF subsystems by generating traceable test reports and compliance documentation.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience with RF & mmW circuit/module design, integration, and testing in a demanding technical environment.
- Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience demonstrating advanced RF competence.
- Comprehensive understanding of RF passive and active components, including filters, amplifiers, mixers, and oscillators under varying conditions.
- Demonstrated expertise in RF device and circuit modeling, including the creation and calibration of compact models for simulation and design.
- Solid knowledge of advanced microelectronic packaging principles and RF module integration strategies for high-frequency applications.
- Hands-on proficiency with RF schematic and layout design flows, including experience in Cadence Virtuoso as a significant advantage.
- Extensive background in RF testing methodologies, covering both on-wafer and off-wafer measurements using modern vector network analyzers and related test setups.
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance is mandatory for continued employment.

- Additional experience with RF device and circuit modeling that reduces iteration time and improves first-pass success rates.
- Familiarity with RF and microwave assembly processes such as wirebonding, die attach, and cavity packaging techniques.
- Advanced knowledge of high-frequency simulation platforms like ADS, MWO, and electromagnetic solvers including HFSS and CST.
- Prior exposure to silicon and/or III-V MMIC process design kits (PDK), including cell characterization and model extraction.

This role requires U.S. citizenship due to the sensitive nature of defense-related work and the necessity of holding a current or obtainable US government security clearance. The position is based in Calabasas, California, and is offered as a regular full-time engagement with standard business hours. Willingness to travel within the project team and across customer sites may be required to support program milestones.
