Engineering Manager

About the role

Disher is hiring an Engineering Manager for a food and beverage manufacturer based in Holland, Michigan. You will lead a group of manufacturing and controls engineers to define technical standards, manage capital projects, and optimize production processes.

What you'll do

• Mentor and coach engineering staff to build technical skills and maintain high performance standards.
• Coordinate across departments including Sales, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Safety, and Supply Chain.
• Create and enforce protocols for mechanical design, electrical systems, automation, and project documentation.
• Oversee external vendors, contractors, and consultants during equipment installations.
• Direct capital projects to ensure they meet safety, budget, and timeline targets.
• Execute process improvements to increase throughput and decrease equipment downtime.
• Manage departmental and capital expenditure budgets.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory, environmental, and food safety standards.
• Provide technical guidance on plant automation, including PLCs, HMIs, and industrial drives.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• At least 7 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting, ideally in food, beverage, dairy, or CPG.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role managing technical teams or capital projects.
• Proven track record of taking capital projects from initial concept to final commissioning.
• Experience with equipment design, process optimization, and automation.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and technical drawings.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.

Nice to have

• Professional certifications such as PE, PMP, or Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
• Experience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
• Background in FDA or USDA regulated environments.
• Familiarity with ERP, MES, or CMMS platforms.
• Knowledge of sanitary equipment design and Good Manufacturing Practices.
