About the role

You own the design, operation, and continuous improvement of our core internal platform, ensuring it delivers reliable, secure, and scalable foundations for all project teams. You translate strategic platform goals into concrete technical roadmaps and drive their execution in close collaboration with senior engineers and leadership. You are responsible for conceiving platform services, removing technical debt, and enabling fast, high-quality software delivery through optimized tooling and processes. You actively shape technical enablement by implementing developer-centric tools that streamline workflows and reduce friction across the engineering organization. You ensure operational excellence by maintaining robust monitoring, observability, and automated recovery mechanisms for the platform. You serve as a key technical partner for project teams, guiding them in best practices for cloud-native application development and platform usage. You continuously explore and evaluate new technologies to future-proof our infrastructure and support emerging requirements.

What you'll do

Shape the evolution of our platform strategy and ensure its successful implementation through close collaboration with senior engineers and leadership.

Analyze and identify opportunities for system improvements, and actively participate in technical discussions to define and prioritize platform initiatives.

Develop and maintain internal tools and platform services that optimize the workflows of software developers and operations teams.

Manage and update our Infrastructure-as-Code setups using Terraform, ArgoCD, Kustomize, and Helm to ensure consistency and reproducibility.

Oversee the reliability, monitoring, and scaling of our Kubernetes clusters to meet operational standards and performance goals.

Provide hands-on support to product development teams by assisting them in onboarding to platform tools and resolving deployment pipeline issues.

Create and maintain clear, up-to-date technical documentation and runbooks that enable teams to use platform services independently and effectively.

Enable self-service capabilities for developers by improving platform tools and removing barriers to fast and safe software delivery.

Act as a technical enabler by guiding teams through complex platform challenges and helping them adopt new tools and practices.

Contribute to the selection, evaluation, and integration of observability tools that improve insight into platform health and usage.

Promote security and compliance by embedding secure design principles and operational best practices into platform services and processes.

Continuously assess the platform's performance and propose enhancements based on feedback from users and evolving requirements.

Support the implementation of automation that reduces manual effort and increases reliability across development and operations workflows.

Champion the adoption of GitOps methodologies to streamline application delivery and improve deployment consistency.

Drive initiatives that improve the overall developer experience and accelerate time-to-market for digital services.

Requirements

Bring hands-on experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or SRE roles with a strong track record of delivering reliable platform solutions.

Demonstrate advanced knowledge of cloud infrastructure, container orchestration with Kubernetes, and related ecosystem technologies.

Show proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code tools, especially Terraform, and configuration management with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD, Helm, and Kustomize.

Have practical experience with CI/CD systems and the design of automated software delivery pipelines.

Possess deep understanding of observability stacks, including metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting concepts.

Exhibit solid skills in managing and operating containerized workloads on Kubernetes, including cluster administration and troubleshooting.

Commit to operating with a security-first mindset and ensuring that platform services comply with relevant standards and regulations.

Communicate clearly and constructively in a collaborative environment, supporting both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

Experience contributing to open-source projects relevant to platform and infrastructure tooling.

Familiarity with software development practices in public administration or highly regulated environments.

Knowledge of software engineering principles for secure and maintainable systems.

Practical notes

This is a full-time position (approximately 39 hours per week).

The position is based in Berlin and follows a hybrid work model combining on-site and remote work.
