Software Engineer (Agentic Systems) at Dialpad.
About the role
Dialpad is seeking a technical leader to define the architecture and execution of our next-generation AI platform. You will move our systems beyond passive copilots into autonomous workflow execution, reporting directly to the Senior Director of Engineering.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Own the architectural roadmap for agentic infrastructure, including orchestration layers, memory architectures, and observability systems.
- Design multi-modal AI agents capable of autonomous support, voice reasoning, and secure API tool execution.
- Mentor senior engineers and establish technical standards for an AI-native software development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Applied Research to align technical execution with business strategy.
- Research and implement agent frameworks, LLM inference optimization, retrieval systems, and safety guardrails.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of leadership as a Staff, Senior Staff, or Principal Engineer.
- Background in scaling distributed systems and infrastructure before transitioning into applied AI and LLM platforms.
- Hands-on experience with agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, or AWS/Google Agent ecosystems.
- Expertise in LLM inference optimization, fine-tuning, and advanced retrieval/memory architectures.
- Proficiency in AI Ops, including evaluation, observability, and production safety frameworks.
- Experience with real-time streaming infrastructure and conversational AI.
- Ability to lead small groups of engineers and thrive in 0 to 1 product environments.
