Software Engineer, Developer Platform

About the role

You will design and build the APIs, event frameworks, and client libraries that allow external developers to integrate with the Dialpad ecosystem. This role involves translating complex developer needs into scalable technical solutions while owning the full lifecycle of core platform components.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Manage the end-to-end development of public APIs and platform features, covering design, coding, testing, and production monitoring.
• Partner with technical product managers and external stakeholders to define and execute on developer-focused requirements.
• Provide mentorship to engineering peers through code reviews, design critiques, and onboarding assistance.
• Contribute to the long-term architectural strategy for the developer platform.

Requirements

• Professional experience in designing, launching, and maintaining scalable backend or full-stack platform systems.
• Proficiency in Python or JavaScript with practical experience building webhooks, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of platform-level concepts including OAuth, rate limiting, permission models, and event delivery.
• A pragmatic approach to debugging and testing within an Agile environment.
• Ability to explain technical trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Interest in Agentic AI and experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as Gemini or Claude.

Nice to have

• Experience building developer platforms or integration ecosystems.
• Background in data pipelines or ETL processes.
• Experience with high-throughput asynchronous systems using Redis or message queues.
