Sr. Software Engineer, Developer Platform at Dialpad.
About the role
You will design and build the APIs, event frameworks, and client libraries that enable external developers to create integrations for the Dialpad ecosystem. This role involves shaping the 6-12 month technical roadmap while ensuring our platform remains scalable and reliable for third-party partners. You will work independently to translate business needs into technical architecture and mentor other engineers on the team.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage the full lifecycle of public APIs and platform features from initial design through production monitoring.
- Partner with technical product managers and external stakeholders to define and execute scalable technical solutions.
- Provide mentorship through code reviews, design critiques, and onboarding assistance.
- Define the long-term architectural direction for the developer platform.
Requirements
- Professional experience designing and maintaining scalable backend or full-stack platform systems.
- Proficiency in Python or JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience with webhooks, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Knowledge of platform concepts such as OAuth, rate limiting, event delivery, and permission models.
- Experience with production troubleshooting and testing in an Agile environment.
- Interest in Agentic AI and previous use of AI-assisted coding tools like Claude or Gemini.
Nice to have
- Experience building developer platforms or integration ecosystems.
- Background in high-throughput asynchronous systems using message queues or Redis.
- Experience with data pipelines and ETL processes.

This position reports to the Developer Platform Director. Compensation listed is base salary only and excludes equity, bonuses, and benefits. The role requires a hybrid presence at the Vancouver office.
