Corporate Counsel, Telecommunications & Regulatory at Dialpad.
About the role
Dialpad is seeking a legal expert to manage the regulatory landscape for our global AI-powered communication platform. You will serve as the primary authority on telecommunications law, AI governance, and compliance, working directly with product and engineering teams to build scalable infrastructure. This role reports to the Deputy General Counsel.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage FCC and state PUC regulatory frameworks, including filing obligations and interconnection requirements for UCaaS and CCaaS products.
- Oversee compliance with STIR/SHAKEN, CLI masking, and Truth in Caller ID Act requirements.
- Provide legal guidance on call recording consent laws, including CIPA and ECPA, and translate these into product specifications.
- Advise on TCPA and FTSA exposure, distinguishing between platform liability and customer usage.
- Monitor and interpret FCC rulemakings and state legislative activity to provide actionable guidance for product launches.
- Review AI-powered features like real-time coaching and transcription for compliance with transparency and automated decision-making laws.
- Partner with security, privacy, and commercial legal teams on customer contracts and RFP responses.
- Develop training materials to help sales and product teams navigate compliance independently.
Requirements
- 4 to 8 years of legal experience in telecommunications regulatory matters at a law firm, carrier, regulatory agency, or UCaaS company.
- Practical experience applying call recording consent laws.
- Understanding of TCPA and FTSA risk mitigation.
- Familiarity with FCC rules, the Communications Act, and VoIP/cloud communications provider regulations.
- Ability to explain complex legal analysis to non-legal stakeholders.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
