About the role
DevSavant is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to design and manage the infrastructure that supports our clients' analytics and business intelligence needs. You will function as an individual contributor, bridging the gap between software engineering and data architecture to build reliable, scalable systems.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Construct and refine data pipelines while ensuring high performance and data integrity.
- Create data models that facilitate self-service analytics for business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Data Science and Data Ops teams to maintain high-quality, documented datasets.
- Troubleshoot system issues by performing root cause analysis and implementing permanent solutions.
- Translate business requirements into technical architectures that support both operational and analytical goals.
- Monitor and optimize data infrastructure to ensure system stability.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of total software engineering experience, including at least 3 years specializing in data engineering or infrastructure.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and relational database management.
- Proven track record of building and managing scalable data pipelines.
- Strong coding skills in a general-purpose language, preferably Python.
- Hands-on experience with modern data stack components like Spark, DBT, and orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster.
- Experience working with cloud-based data warehouses including BigQuery, Snowflake, or Databricks.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences and document complex systems clearly.
Nice to have
- Background in backend engineering or API development.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.
- Experience with system design for high-scale or customer-facing platforms.
- Exposure to large-scale datasets such as transaction, behavioral, or viewership data.
