API Lead / Engineering Manager

About the role

We are looking for a technical leader to oversee the development of a real-time emergency response platform that utilizes map-based data. This role requires a balance of direct engineering management for a small team and high-level architectural oversight.

What you'll do

• Supervise and mentor a squad of three engineers focused on emergency response software.
• Convert product specifications into detailed technical tasks for the development team.
• Act as the primary technical contact for stakeholders while refining product goals.
• Manage the data flow and integration between the React frontend and the backend API.
• Design and implement system architecture using serverless AWS components.
• Oversee the health and efficiency of CI/CD workflows within GitHub Actions.

Requirements

• Prior experience managing engineering teams, specifically in a hands-on capacity.
• Proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript.
• Practical knowledge of serverless infrastructure tools including Pulumi, SST, and AWS Lambda.
• Ability to bridge the gap between frontend React development and backend services.
• Experience leading a team of roughly 3 developers.

Nice to have

• Background in SOC 2 compliance or familiarity with TX-RAMP certification standards.
