What you'll do
- Design and implement scalable data architectures on Google Cloud Platform, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications for data solutions.
- Develop data pipelines and ETL processes to facilitate the movement and transformation of data across various sources.
- Optimize existing data models and workflows to improve efficiency and reduce costs associated with data storage and processing.
- Ensure data governance and compliance with industry standards and regulations, including data security and privacy protocols.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data engineers and architects, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting for data solutions, identifying and resolving bottlenecks in data processing.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in GCP and data architecture, integrating new technologies and methodologies into our practices.
- Participate in architectural reviews and design discussions, contributing to the overall data strategy and roadmap for the organization.
- Document data architecture designs, processes, and best practices to ensure clarity and consistency across the team.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand their data needs and provide the necessary infrastructure to support their analytical efforts.
- Engage with stakeholders to communicate project status, challenges, and opportunities, ensuring alignment with business goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in data architecture or data engineering, with a strong focus on cloud-based solutions.
- Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform services, including BigQuery, Dataflow, and Cloud Storage.
- Proficient in SQL and familiar with programming languages such as Python or Java for data manipulation and processing.
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
- Experience with data governance frameworks and best practices for data security and compliance.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience with other cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts and tools, particularly in the context of data architecture.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Looker.
- Certification in Google Cloud Platform, particularly in data engineering or architecture.
