About the role
depthfirst is seeking its first Product Marketing Lead to shape how a new security product is presented and sold. This role involves defining product understanding in a crowded market and serving as a link between product development, sales, and customers. You will be instrumental in highlighting depthfirst's innovative approach to software vulnerability detection.

What you'll do
- Develop and refine the positioning and messaging for depthfirst and its products as they evolve.
- Distinguish depthfirst in the security market by translating technical advantages into a clear, trustworthy narrative for buyers.
- Manage product launches from start to finish, including narrative creation, asset development, timing, and coordination across teams.
- Create and maintain competitive intelligence resources, tracking the market, analyzing wins and losses, and providing sales with effective battlecards and objection handling.
- Collaborate closely with sales to create enablement materials like pitch decks, one-pagers, demo scripts, and talk tracks, ensuring they are practical and effective.
- Write and manage high-impact website content, from the homepage to individual product pages, designed to convert visitors.
- Understand customer challenges deeply and articulate solutions in compelling language for all marketing and sales materials.
- Provide market and competitive feedback to the product team to inform roadmap decisions and priorities.
Requirements
- 5 or more years in product marketing, including experience as a first or early PMM hire at a rapidly growing startup where messaging was frequently refined.
- Proven ability to differentiate technical products in competitive markets.
- Strong collaboration with sales, demonstrated by building enablement tools and competitive programs that directly impact deal outcomes.
- Excellent writing skills, capable of transforming technical information into clear, sharp, and persuasive content.
- Comfortable with in-depth technical products; experience in developer tools, security, or infrastructure is a significant advantage.
- High degree of ownership and versatility, thriving on managing multiple responsibilities and building functions from the ground up.
- Commitment to depthfirst's mission of securing software globally.
- Located in San Francisco or willing to relocate.
