Sr. Director Local Shops

About the role

This regional leadership position oversees the Local Stores grocery and retail marketplace across 8 markets. You will manage the full profit and loss for the vertical, drive growth strategies, and lead the expansion of retail categories including Health and Beauty.

What you'll do

• Manage the consolidated regional Local Shops P&L, including commission structures, logistics costs, and subscription commercials.
• Oversee 8 country heads and 2 Instashop market leads in the UAE and Egypt.
• Direct commercial relationships with top-tier strategic accounts, including the creation of Joint Business Plans and Quarterly Business Reviews.
• Meet regional targets for GMV, gross profit, and investment efficiency.
• Collaborate with Product and Technology teams to refine inventory management and fulfillment operations.
• Increase vendor participation in the talabat Pro program and deploy loyalty initiatives.
• Scale the Health and Beauty category and identify opportunities for new retail vertical expansion.
• Lead and mentor a team of 2 direct reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, or a related field; MBA preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial, business development, or account management within retail, grocery, e-commerce, or marketplace sectors.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years in a senior leadership position covering multiple markets or regions.
• Demonstrated success managing large accounts and hitting financial performance targets.
• Deep knowledge of marketplace economics, P&L management, and vendor negotiations.
• Ability to manage stakeholders across various functions and geographies.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to convert data into commercial strategy.
• Experience working in the MENA region is strongly preferred.
