Director Engineering, Platform

About the role

You will lead the Global Developer Engineering team within the Tech Foundations vertical to simplify our infrastructure and improve the experience for over 4,000 engineers. This role focuses on building a unified platform that enables our global teams to deploy and manage software efficiently while optimizing cloud costs.

What you'll do

• Develop and execute a platform and infrastructure strategy that aligns with business goals and demonstrates ROI to executive leadership.
• Manage infrastructure budgets and drive cost-efficiency across the entire group.
• Implement a platform-as-a-product model to provide self-service tools and golden paths for internal developers.
• Lead and mentor a global organization of 50+ platform engineers based in hubs like Berlin and Barcelona.
• Provide governance and coaching to engineering managers across global subsidiaries to ensure unified standards.
• Oversee the architecture and deployment of secure, automated cloud infrastructure on AWS and GCP.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in platform engineering at a web-scale level.
• 5+ years in senior engineering leadership roles (Director level or above) managing multiple teams.
• Proven track record of building and scaling unified developer platforms in complex, distributed organizations.
• Deep knowledge of cloud-native microservices, event-driven architectures, and containerization/observability frameworks.
• Strong business acumen regarding infrastructure budget management.
• Excellent communication skills to influence senior stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
