About the role
Join the DeepL Voice team to build the next generation of real-time communication tools. This role involves developing full-stack solutions for a "Universal Translator" that enables natural, barrier-free conversations. You will contribute to a product launched in late 2024, working in a 0-to-1 engineering environment.

What you'll do
- Adopt a builder mindset, prototyping new features and refactoring for scalability without a predefined roadmap.
- Prioritize the user experience, ensuring that technical metrics like accuracy translate into a smooth human interaction.
- Develop and deploy features across the entire technology stack, from user interfaces to backend services and AI integration.
- Address complex real-time communication challenges, including latency, transcript stability, and audio quality.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and AI researchers in a cross-functional team to define and solve technical problems.
Requirements
- Demonstrated product-first approach, focusing on customer impact before writing code.
- Proficiency in full-stack development, including modern UI with React and TypeScript, and backend services with Node.js/TypeScript or a similar language.
- Experience with real-time systems such as WebRTC, WebSockets, and streaming architectures.
- High degree of agency, proactively identifying and resolving issues across various domains.
- Ability to use AI-powered tools like GitHub Copilot or Claude to enhance development speed and focus on complex problem-solving.
