Engineering Lead, Strategic Deals

About the role

This position involves leading the technical development for Decagon's most significant client engagements. You will act as a founding CTO for 1-3 major projects, working directly with client leadership to define and deliver solutions that serve millions of users. Your work will not only secure these deals but also drive the evolution of Decagon's core product.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Manage the complete technical build for several strategic deals, from initial proof-of-concept through to stable post-launch operation.
• Collaborate directly with client engineering and product leaders to establish technical requirements and cultivate strong technical relationships.
• Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks that could jeopardize a deal.
• Translate specific client needs into generalized solutions that enhance the core Decagon product.
• Provide technical leadership to a pod of 1-3 software engineers per deal, guiding their work and fostering their development.

Requirements

• Over 5 years of industry experience in software engineering, with a background as a strong engineering leader or former technical founder.
• Eagerness to engage directly with customers.
• Ability to manage high-stakes accounts with unclear requirements.
• Skill in rapidly evaluating technical approaches, assessing risks, and making decisions under pressure.
