Senior Software Engineer

About the role

The eBPF APM team develops zero-instrumentation observability tools that automatically identify services, decode traffic, and extract performance metrics. You will work on low-level systems, managing protocol parsing and encryption detection across various Linux environments.

What you'll do

• Architect and build core features for the zero-instrumentation APM product using Go and eBPF.
• Create systems for service auto-discovery, L7 protocol classification, and RED metric extraction from plaintext and TLS traffic.
• Address technical hurdles involving encryption, protocol parsing, and kernel-level performance.
• Maintain compatibility across diverse Linux distributions and kernel versions.
• Lead design initiatives and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system reliability and scale.
• Utilize and refine AI-driven coding tools to optimize development workflows and product quality.

Requirements

• Significant experience in backend or systems-level engineering.
• Proficiency in Go, C, or C++.
• Experience working close to the Linux kernel.
• Background in designing and operating scalable, reliable systems.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and contribute to a focused team.
• Demonstrated experience using AI coding tools to critique and improve software outputs.

Nice to have

• Practical experience with eBPF.
• Knowledge of networking protocols.
• Familiarity with TLS internals.
• Experience with distributed tracing.
