About the role
The Money team builds the infrastructure that manages billing, usage, and commercialization for our global data and AI platform. You will develop systems that handle complex pricing models and usage data across AWS, Azure, and GCP. This role is central to how we bring products to market and provide cost transparency to our customers. You will own the design and execution of services that power monetization at global scale. The work you do will directly influence how Databricks commercializes its platform and delivers clear cost insights to our customers. You will be responsible for creating the foundational primitives that enable flexible and accurate pricing strategies. Your contributions will ensure that the infrastructure remains robust, scalable, and aligned with business objectives. You will play a key role in translating commercial requirements into reliable technical solutions.

What you'll do
- Architect and maintain services that manage commercialization for all Databricks offerings.
- Create primitives to support diverse pricing strategies including Pay-As-You-Go, trials, credits, and promotions.
- Improve system reliability, data accuracy, and infrastructure efficiency through better CI/CD, testing, and anomaly detection.
- Partner with commercialization, product, and data science teams to implement new pricing plans.
- Apply AI and LLM technologies to improve cost prediction and optimization tools.
- Represent the company at industrial and academic conferences.
- Design and implement data pipelines that ensure correctness and consistency for billing and usage information.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define and prioritize features that enhance the commercial platform.
- Develop and maintain APIs that enable seamless integration with internal and external systems.
- Implement monitoring and alerting frameworks to detect and resolve issues in near real-time.
- Optimize cloud infrastructure to balance performance, cost, and scalability across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Lead technical discussions and design reviews to ensure solutions meet long-term maintainability goals.
- Mentor junior engineers by providing guidance on best practices for distributed systems and data integrity.
Requirements
- BS or higher degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience providing technical leadership for large-scale projects involving distributed service infrastructure and near real-time data processing.
- Proven history of shipping and managing reliable distributed services and data pipelines.
- Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives across organizational and functional boundaries.
- Proactive mindset focused on delivering high-quality technical solutions.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and engineering best practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with diverse teams.
