About the role
The Web Engineering team manages the public-facing digital presence for Databricks, including the main website, blogs, and event properties. We are currently rebuilding our entire platform to be AI-native and are implementing an agentic software development lifecycle. In this role, you will own the end-to-end delivery of the digital platform, shaping how thousands of visitors and partners interact with Databricks every day. You will architect and maintain the infrastructure that powers the public web, ensuring it is robust, scalable, and aligned with the company's AI-first vision. You will work closely with product, design, and security stakeholders to translate business requirements into resilient technical solutions. This is an opportunity to define the standards and practices for the modern web experience at a leading data and AI company. You will play a key role in enabling the broader organization by providing the tools and platforms that make marketing, sales, and customer success teams effective.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Architect and maintain the core platform infrastructure that serves databricks.com, including CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, secrets management, and edge delivery configurations.
- Implement and enforce automated accessibility validation within CI pipelines to ensure standards are met at every release without manual gatekeeping.
- Design and roll out a centralized, policy-driven consent management infrastructure that replaces fragmented implementations across all web properties.
- Lead the consolidation of disparate frameworks and deployment models onto a unified design system and deployment foundation to reduce complexity and maintenance overhead.
- Integrate AI agents into the development workflow to assist with code generation, testing, and deployment processes, improving speed and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to define the technical roadmap for the web platform, balancing innovation with stability and performance.
- Monitor and optimize the production web stack to ensure high availability, fast load times, and a consistent experience across regions and devices.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers on best practices for web infrastructure, security, and compliance within the platform domain.
- Partner with security and compliance teams to ensure all web properties meet organizational and regulatory requirements for data handling and privacy.
- Drive continuous improvement by analyzing platform metrics, identifying bottlenecks, and proposing data-backed enhancements to the development lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bring 8+ years of software engineering experience with a proven history of shipping and maintaining production web infrastructure at scale.
- Demonstrate deep technical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, build systems, and edge delivery mechanisms.
- Show experience managing consent management systems at the platform level, including integration with privacy regulations and user preferences.
- Exhibit the ability to manage a platform infrastructure domain end to end under the guidance of a Staff Software Engineer.
- Have a strong understanding of web technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks.
- Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile environment where priorities can shift based on business needs and technical constraints.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Show commitment to writing clean, maintainable code and adhering to software engineering best practices and code review standards.
Nice to have
- Demonstrate familiarity with accessibility standards and experience incorporating automated a11y testing into CI pipelines.
- Have hands-on experience with framework migrations or tech stack consolidation on live production systems with minimal disruption.
