Sr. Specialist Solutions Architect
Databricks on Google Cloud
This role delivers technical leadership for Databricks deployments on Google Cloud Platform. You will partner with enterprise customers to design, implement, and operate mission-critical data and artificial intelligence workloads. Success in this position requires deep architectural expertise and a commitment to continuous learning. The position is open to remote work within the United States.
You serve as a trusted advisor for strategic accounts, owning the complete lifecycle of Databricks on Google Cloud. Your responsibilities include designing production-grade environments, guiding key technical decisions, and mentoring internal peers. You translate complex platform capabilities into actionable solutions that enable enterprises to derive value from data and artificial intelligence. This position reports to the Specialist Field Engineering Management organization.
Core Responsibilities
You will design and deploy secure, scalable infrastructure on Google Cloud for Databricks workloads. This includes detailed architecture for networking components such as Virtual Private Clouds, Private Service Connect, and load balancing. You will configure identity and access management in alignment with enterprise security standards. Your work will ensure deployments meet compliance requirements and adhere to operational best practices.
You collaborate closely with Solutions Architects during sales cycles. This involves building proof-of-concept environments, validating architecture hypotheses, and creating technical content that supports customer decisions. You ensure proposed solutions use the full capabilities of the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform.
You act as a subject matter expert in core technical domains. These include Google Cloud infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code methodologies, cloud networking, and identity management. You contribute to the development and refinement of internal playbooks and operational guides. You represent platform expertise in technical design reviews and architecture discussions.
You participate in knowledge-sharing initiatives that expand Databricks adoption. This includes creating tutorials, running hands-on labs, and contributing to open-source projects. You help organize and present at industry conferences and customer events. Your insights shape internal training programs and community engagement strategies.
Required Qualifications
The position requires eight years of hands-on experience with Google Cloud infrastructure. You must demonstrate deep expertise in security controls, networking, and enterprise data platform design. Your background should include practical experience with cloud security frameworks, network best practices, and secure architecture patterns.
You bring five years of experience designing and operating distributed systems. Your work involves big data and modern analytics platforms, including technologies such as Apache Spark and Kafka. You understand the operational characteristics of these systems in production environments.
You offer five years of experience in customer-facing technical roles. This includes positions in Pre-Sales, Post-Sales, or consulting. You communicate effectively with technical and executive stakeholders. You translate business requirements into technical solutions.
You demonstrate deep specialization in GCP security and identity management. This includes security monitoring, encryption strategies, compliance frameworks, and identity protocols. You are experienced with Google Cloud Identity, Identity and Access Management, Workload Identity Federation, and related technologies.
You demonstrate deep specialization in GCP networking. This includes VPC design, Private Service Connect, network peering, and performance optimization. You understand hybrid connectivity and secure access patterns. You plan and manage large-scale network implementations.
You demonstrate deep specialization in platform administration on Google Cloud. This includes high availability patterns, disaster recovery strategies, and cluster lifecycle management. You automate operations through infrastructure-as-code tools. You ensure reliability and scalability of data platforms.
Compensation and Eligibility
Base compensation for this role is $199,900.00 for the year 2025. This compensation package reflects the scope and impact of the position. Eligibility for additional benefits and incentives may apply based on role requirements and company policies.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct experience with the Databricks platform is highly valued. Familiarity with related components of the data ecosystem provides additional context. This includes workflow management, data ingestion tools, and machine learning platforms. Your experience helps you guide customers effectively.
Tools and Skills
You utilize Google Cloud as your primary platform. You work with Databricks to deliver integrated solutions. You use Google Cloud Identity and Identity and Access Management to control access. You employ infrastructure-as-code tools to automate deployments.
