About the role
The Payroll Tax Manager acts as the primary internal authority on payroll tax matters, guiding HR, equity, accounting, and payroll departments through legislative updates. This role involves managing global tax policies, overseeing audits, and ensuring accurate reporting across the organization. You will work to minimize tax risk while optimizing processes for the business and its employees.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Review payroll tax calculations and document technical positions alongside the global payroll team.
- Manage global payroll tax audits, including responding to information requests and resolving discrepancies.
- Support M&A integration activities to ensure tax compliance and optimization.
- Partner with the equity administration group to validate equity withholding and assist with shareholder transaction planning.
- Collaborate with the Finance Data Team to modernize payroll tax reporting using internal technology.
- Assist in reconciling payroll tax accounts and investigating variances.
- Provide guidance on cross-functional initiatives, including new entity creation and employee versus EOR decisions.
- Communicate global payroll tax requirements to internal stakeholders and employees.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll tax.
- Proficiency in US federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
- Understanding of international payroll tax laws and equity compensation tax matters.
- Experience with payroll systems and tax filing platforms.
- Proven ability to manage payroll tax audits and negotiate with revenue authorities.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.

- Experience using Workday.
- Background in handling mobility tax issues across states or countries.
- Experience working within large, complex, multinational companies.

- Zone 1 Pay Range: $161,000 - $221,450 USD
- Zone 2 Pay Range: $145,000 - $199,300 USD
- Zone 3 Pay Range: $136,900 - $188,200 USD
- Zone 4 Pay Range: $128,800 - $177,100 USD
- Compensation includes potential for annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.
- Employment is subject to export control compliance, which may require a U.S. government license.
