About the role
Databricks is building a modern finance function that utilizes automation and AI to support rapid company growth. This position focuses on daily and month-end accounting tasks for global payroll, requiring a detail-oriented professional to manage reconciliations and process improvements.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Record payroll journal entries for salaries, bonuses, commissions, benefits, stock compensation, and taxes.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly and resolve discrepancies.
- Conduct flux analysis to explain period-over-period payroll movements.
- Manage accounting for equity programs including RSUs, stock options, and ESPP.
- Oversee payroll accounting for global entities, specifically in Germany, Brazil, France, Netherlands, and India.
- Collaborate with the Payroll Operations team to align payroll registers with the general ledger.
- Assist with internal SOX requests, statutory audits, and external audits.
- Help establish accounting processes for new international subsidiaries.
- Test and implement cloud-based payroll system updates.
- Support initiatives to integrate AI and automation into payroll operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration.
- 6-8 years of general accounting experience, including at least 4 years in payroll accounting.
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP.
- Experience with statutory audits and working across multiple time zones.
- Ability to document standard operating procedures.
Nice to have
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or CPA certification.
- Experience with equity compensation accounting.
- Familiarity with global payroll jurisdictions including Germany, Brazil, France, Netherlands, and India.
- Experience driving automation or AI adoption in accounting workflows.
