Senior Manager, Finance Data and AI at Databricks.
About the role
You will lead the creation and management of data pipelines, AI initiatives, and internal applications supporting the Finance and Accounting departments. Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance Data, AI & Strategy, you will act as the technical lead for a team focused on scaling financial operations through modern data infrastructure. This position is based in Bengaluru.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage Databricks Jobs and Lakeflow Declarative Pipelines, ensuring data accuracy through validation and reconciliation.
- Develop and deploy AI solutions for finance, such as forecasting automation, anomaly detection, and natural language interfaces.
- Create internal finance applications, including Databricks Apps, Genie Spaces, and dashboards for non-technical users.
- Generate executive-level reports and dashboards for quarterly and monthly reviews.
- Curate financial datasets while implementing row-level security and access controls.
- Collaborate with FP&A, Accounting, Internal Audit, and Procurement to build scalable technical solutions within the Finance DataLake.
- Lead and mentor a team of finance data engineers, establishing technical standards and reviewing project outputs.
- Maintain SOX compliance through Git-based version control, pull-request reviews, and CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions and Declarative Automation Bundles.
- Provide technical support during financial close periods.
- Coordinate with IT and Engineering teams to conduct UAT for new systems.
- Define documentation, coding, and data management best practices.
Requirements
- 15+ years of professional experience in analytics engineering, finance systems, or data engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in a team lead or people management role.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for pipeline development.
- Hands-on experience integrating financial source systems like Salesforce, Netsuite, Zuora, or Stripe into a centralized data lake.
- Knowledge of accounting and finance principles, including revenue recognition, financial reporting, chart of accounts, and close processes.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in FP&A and Accounting.
- Experience building self-service dashboards and BI visualizations.
- Understanding of AI/ML fundamentals.
Nice to have
- Previous work history at a cloud infrastructure or high-growth SaaS company.
- Familiarity with LLM-powered applications, Genie, or AI/BI tools.
- Experience with CI/CD for data pipelines or Declarative Automation Bundles.
- Formal accounting or finance credentials such as a CFA or CPA.
