Security Engineer

About the role

DAT Freight & Analytics is seeking a Security Engineer to join our Security Architecture and Engineering team. This position focuses on implementing security controls, automating workflows, and integrating security practices directly into our software development lifecycle.

What you'll do

• Design and implement security architecture while balancing operational needs and usability.
• Create and maintain automation workflows for CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and logging systems.
• Develop technical documentation, including runbooks and architecture diagrams for container security and access management.
• Partner with engineering teams to integrate security checks such as SAST, DAST, SCA, and IaC scanning into the development process.
• Assess security controls using NIST frameworks and prioritize risk mitigation.
• Manage incident response tasks, develop threat detections based on MITRE ATT&CK patterns, and resolve security issues.

Requirements

• 2-4 years of professional experience in cybersecurity engineering or cloud infrastructure security.
• Proficiency with cloud security domains, including IAM, network security, and posture management.
• Experience with automation tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps, containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipeline security.
• Ability to tune security rules to minimize false positives and manage cloud-native monitoring.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with NIST 800-53, SOC 2, CIS Benchmarks, and Zero Trust architectures.

Nice to have

• B.S. degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications such as Security+ or AWS Certified Security
• Specialty.
