We are looking for a Senior Decision Scientist to join our team and contribute to the growth of Aetna's Medicare Business. This role involves utilizing data science and consulting skills to enhance consumer marketing and product design, impacting millions of members and prospects.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Collaborate with Marketing and Sales teams to drive Aetna's Medicare member growth strategy through data analytics, including customer segmentation and forecasting.
- Create and document the complete architecture for machine learning systems, covering aspects from data ingestion to model deployment.
- Utilize AI methodologies to analyze model performance and guide development processes.
- Rapidly develop and test prototypes to facilitate quick iterations and experimentation.
- Work alongside engineering and product teams to ensure models are ready for production and integrated properly.
- Offer technical guidance and review architectural decisions throughout the machine learning lifecycle.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in data analytics, machine learning, business intelligence, data engineering, or applied data science.
- At least 3 years of proficiency in SQL and Python or R for data analysis.
- Over 2 years of experience applying statistical methods to complex datasets to address business challenges.
- Proven ability to utilize data to influence decisions among cross-functional teams and leadership.
- Strong communication skills to explain complex problems and solutions clearly and effectively.
- At least 1 year of experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, R Shiny, or Power BI.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience managing relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Solid understanding of fundamental machine learning concepts, including supervised and unsupervised learning, model evaluation, and feature engineering.
- Ability to connect back-end data processing, model development, and front-end delivery.
- Experience in designing or contributing to machine learning system architecture.
- Practical experience in using AI to enhance models and a preference for rapid prototyping and iteration.
- Comfortable engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with model deployment and production rollout is advantageous.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field or business, or equivalent education and experience.
- A Master's degree in a quantitative field or business is preferred.

Pay Range
The expected salary for this position ranges from $111,240 to $222,480 annually. This range represents the base salary for all roles within this job grade. Actual salary offers will vary based on factors such as experience, education, and location. This position is also eligible for bonuses, commissions, or short-term incentive programs in addition to the base salary.
