About the role
Customer.io is seeking a Revenue Manager to oversee our monthly financial close process. This role is crucial as we expand our billing structures to include consumption-based and hybrid models. You will be the primary owner of revenue accounting, working closely with various departments to ensure accuracy and compliance.

What you'll do
Manage the complete monthly revenue close cycle, encompassing subscription, usage-based, and mixed billing arrangements.
Maintain detailed records of deferred revenue, including schedules and allocation methodologies, as our product offerings and billing systems evolve.
Assess the revenue recognition implications of new contracts and deals, escalating complex or unusual structures for review.
Collaborate with Revenue Operations, Deal Desk, and Legal teams on contract terms, deal structures, and non-standard payment terms.
Prepare comprehensive and auditable documentation for all revenue-related transactions and provide support for annual audits.
Proactively identify and implement opportunities to automate revenue accounting entries, reconciliations, and reporting using AI tools.
Requirements
Possess 5-7 years of experience in revenue accounting, with demonstrated responsibility for managing a month-end close process.
Be capable of independently managing the revenue close process after an initial ramp-up period, covering both subscription and usage-based revenue.
Have a strong understanding of ASC 606 principles, including variable consideration, SSP, and contract modifications, to identify and escalate potential issues.
Experience working with Legal, Revenue Operations, and Deal Desk teams on contract and deal reviews.
A proven history of improving or establishing revenue accounting processes within a growing company.
Familiarity with Metronome, Stripe Billing, or NetSuite is advantageous.
Comfortable utilizing AI tools to enhance the efficiency of revenue recognition tasks, reconciliations, and reporting.

Compensation ranges from $99,000 to $139,000 USD annually, adjusted based on geographic zone and candidate experience.
Zone 1: $119,000-$139,000
Zone 2: $109,000-$128,000
Zone 3: $99,000-$116,000
