Assistant Financial Controller

About the role

You will manage the accounting operations for our North American entities, overseeing financial reporting, internal controls, and team development. This position requires a technical expert to drive process improvements and ensure compliance within a fast-paced cryptocurrency environment.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Direct the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close for U.S. and Canadian operations.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements and footnote disclosures under U.S. GAAP.
• Manage intercompany settlements, eliminations, and recharges.
• Research and document technical accounting positions regarding ASC 606, ASC 810, ASC 842, and digital assets.
• Design and maintain internal controls over financial reporting.
• Coordinate with external auditors and manage regulatory reporting for the CFTC and NFA.
• Supervise accounts payable, vendor management, and payment controls.
• Lead and mentor the U.S. accounting team to ensure high performance and accountability.
• Identify and implement automation solutions to increase efficiency in accounting workflows.
• Partner with Treasury, Legal, and Compliance departments to support governance.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Active CPA license.
• 5 to 9 years of accounting experience, including a mix of public accounting and industry roles.
• Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting research.
• Proven experience with multi-entity consolidations and intercompany accounting.
• Background in managing external audit engagements.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and manage professional staff.
• Strong proficiency in ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in regulated financial services such as banking, broker-dealers, or exchanges.
• Knowledge of SEC, CFTC, or NFA regulatory filings.
• Familiarity with digital assets and crypto markets.
• Experience using business intelligence tools like Tableau or Power BI.
• Background in implementing AI or automation tools for finance functions.
