About the role
You will own the technical quality strategy and execution for Crusoe's mission-critical data center infrastructure from civil works through commissioning and turnover. You will define and standardize inspection methods, acceptance criteria, and quality documentation that directly protect schedule confidence, system reliability, and capital efficiency. This role demands a hands-on leader who partners with Construction, Design, Commissioning, Operations, GCs, subcontractors, OEMs, and AHJs to drive consistent outcomes across complex, multi-tenant builds. You will provide senior-level review of drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, field changes, and construction execution plans through a rigorous quality and constructability lens. You will lead root cause analysis for recurring defects and system-level failures, establishing defect taxonomies and trend reporting that expose systemic risk. You will define and improve program-level quality engineering standards, inspection methods, and acceptance criteria across major construction scopes, with deep focus on MEP systems, commissioning readiness, inspection standards, defect prevention, and turnover integrity. You will mentor engineers, construction teams, and trade partners on technical quality standards and inspection discipline, ensuring field lessons are translated into scalable practices that future projects reuse.

What you'll do
Define and improve program-level quality engineering standards, inspection methods, and acceptance criteria across Crusoe's mission-critical data center construction portfolios.
Develop, refine, and govern Inspection Test Plans, checklists, inspection workflows, and quality documentation standards for civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, controls, and commissioning scopes.
Partner closely with Construction, Design, Commissioning, Operations, General Contractors, subcontractors, OEMs, and AHJs to drive consistent quality outcomes and resolve high-risk issues.
Provide senior-level technical review of drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, field changes, and construction execution plans from a quality and constructability perspective.
Lead root cause analysis for recurring defects, non-conformances, rework drivers, and system-level quality failures, establishing defect taxonomies and trend reporting.
Ensure critical MEP systems, including electrical distribution, mechanical and cooling systems, controls, and related infrastructure, are installed in accordance with design intent, specifications, submittals, code requirements, and performance expectations.
Drive pre-functional and functional readiness standards in partnership with commissioning teams to support first-pass commissioning success.
Review and validate non-conformance reports, corrective action plans, punch lists, inspection results, test reports, as-builts, redlines, O&M manuals, and turnover packages for completeness and accuracy.
Identify quality risks early and influence corrective action before issues impact schedule, commissioning, cost, or long-term reliability.
Mentor QC Engineers, QC Managers, construction teams, and trade partners on technical quality standards and inspection discipline across projects and campuses.
Support audit readiness and maintain high-quality documentation and reporting standards across assigned projects or site-wide scopes.
Translate field lessons learned into scalable standards, playbooks, and repeatable quality practices that reduce repeat defects and improve delivery predictability.
Establish and maintain quality metrics and dashboards that provide visibility into systemic risk, defect trends, and performance across scopes and projects.
Champion inspection standards and acceptance criteria to ensure critical MEP systems are installed correctly and ready for first-pass commissioning.
Provide technical quality sign-off recommendations for systems prior to commissioning, energization, turnover, and operational handoff.
Requirements
10+ years of experience in construction QA/QC, quality engineering, field engineering, or a related technical discipline in complex construction or mission-critical facility environments.
Proven experience defining, implementing, and improving quality engineering standards, inspection methods, and acceptance criteria for construction or manufacturing environments.
Strong background with MEP systems, commissioning processes, inspection standards, and turnover integrity in large-scale, mission-critical or industrial settings.
Demonstrated ability to interpret drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and construction execution plans, and to assess their quality and constructability implications.
Experience partnering with GCs, subcontractors, OEMs, AHJs, and third-party inspectors to resolve high-risk quality and compliance issues.
Track record of leading root cause analysis, defect investigations, and corrective action initiatives that measurably reduced rework and improved first-time quality.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to prepare technical reviews, quality reports, audit documentation, and to interface with senior stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
Ability to work in a field-driven role across multiple project sites, often in construction environments that require extended hours and adaptability to shifting schedules and priorities.
Willingness to travel as required by project needs, including potential travel to Abilene, TX and other Crusoe site locations.
Must be eligible to work in the United States without requiring work authorization sponsorship at the time of hire.
Nice to have
Experience with data center, cloud, or high-tech facility quality programs and commissioning processes.
Familiarity with energy and power infrastructure relevant to AI workloads and the constraints of an energy-first approach.
Knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and quality systems relevant to construction and commissioning in mission-critical environments.
Practical notes
This role may require extended work hours and occasional travel to project sites, including the Abilene, TX location.
