About the role
Convene Hospitality Group is looking for a Bar Operations Supervisor to manage all beverage services at The Mallory, our new event venue, and support broader organizational needs. This role involves overseeing the beverage program, supervising event bar staff, and ensuring exceptional guest experiences. You will balance administrative duties with active event support in a dynamic, client-focused setting.

What you'll do
- Train staff and implement seasonal beverage menus, including cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic options, adhering to company standards.
- Ensure consistent beverage preparation, presentation, and quality across all events.
- Support purchasing of beverage products, bar equipment, and supplies.
- Track inventory, monitor usage, and implement systems to reduce waste and control costs.
- Advise on and maintain appropriate staffing levels for events.
- Serve as the main contact for custom beverage requests during event setup and execution.
- Oversee bar setup, breakdown, and service execution, maintaining high guest experience and back-of-house standards.
- Train and develop event bar staff, providing feedback and escalating issues when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all alcohol service laws, health codes, and venue policies.
- Provide hands-on support for amenity spaces, room setups, and general operations as needed.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in bar operations, lead bartending, or beverage coordination, preferably in an event-driven or high-volume hospitality environment.
- Strong understanding of beer, wine, spirits, and cocktail preparation techniques.
- Experience with advanced cocktail production.
- Experience with inventory management, including requisitions, consumption tracking, and monthly counts.
- A service-oriented approach with the ability to solve problems in a fast-paced, high-end event setting.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by events.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, stand and walk for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
Nice to have
- Beverage certifications (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET, or equivalent).
- Valid NYC Food Handlers permit.
- Certification in responsible alcohol service (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol).
