About the role
Contrarian Thinking is seeking a Junior Writer to join our content team and produce work for a massive audience of business owners and entrepreneurs. You will work directly under our Senior Editorial Producer to master the craft of writing across newsletters, social media, and video scripts. This role is designed for an early-career writer who wants to see real-time performance data and refine their voice through consistent editorial feedback.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Draft newsletters ranging from 500 to 1,200 words, eventually moving to longer formats.
- Write scripts and captions for X, LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok.
- Develop initial scripts for long-form YouTube content.
- Research business trends and pitch original content ideas to the editorial team.
- Participate in editorial reviews to refine logic, hooks, and narrative structure.
- Analyze performance metrics including open rates, read rates, and social engagement to improve future drafts.
Requirements
- Strong grasp of writing fundamentals, including grammar, rhythm, and the ability to simplify complex topics.
- Genuine curiosity regarding business, entrepreneurship, and market trends.
- Ability to accept and implement editorial feedback without ego.
- Consistent track record of meeting deadlines and producing work ready for review.
- Proficiency with AI tools for research, brainstorming, and drafting.
- Eagerness to learn and develop skills under experienced editors.
Nice to have
- Prior experience writing for newsletters.
- A portfolio featuring long-form content exceeding 1,500 words.
- Familiarity with interpreting analytics and performance data.
- Previous experience working on an editorial or content team.
