About the role
Commure is building an AI-powered operating system to modernize healthcare delivery, documentation, and financial workflows. As a Staff Software Engineer on the Air Billing team, you will lead the architectural overhaul of our practice management platform to improve productivity for medical billers nationwide.

What you'll do
- Define the technical strategy for our billing platform, ensuring consistent architecture across multiple engineering teams.
- Establish standards for component libraries, API contracts, testing protocols, and observability.
- Lead complex, cross-team initiatives including high-scale data rendering, bulk record processing, and unified claim activity tracking.
- Integrate AI features into billing workflows to resolve specific user friction points.
- Mentor engineers, conduct architecture reviews, and maintain production reliability for high-traffic surfaces.
- Collaborate with product, design, and operations teams to translate complex billing requirements into efficient software.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in full-stack application development.
- Proven ability to lead frontend architecture and design system adoption across a large organization.
- Deep expertise in TypeScript, React, Python, and PostgreSQL.
- Experience designing APIs for large datasets, including filtering, grouping, and pagination.
- Track record of driving multi-team, multi-month migrations or platform rebuilds to completion.
- Strong skills in debugging, observability, and performance optimization for complex UIs.
- Ability to communicate technical direction to both leadership and engineering teams.
Nice to have
- Experience with OLAP stores such as StarRocks, ClickHouse, or Druid.
- Knowledge of healthcare billing data standards like EDI X12 (270/271, 276/277, 835, 837), ERAs, EOBs, and denial codes.
- Experience deploying LLM-powered features into production environments.
- Background in highly regulated sectors like finance, insurance, or healthcare.
- Experience with frontend developer tooling and CI/CD pipelines.
