About the role
Commure is building an AI operating system to modernize healthcare documentation, revenue cycles, and patient workflows. You will lead the technical strategy for our Data Integrations team, ensuring our distributed systems reliably manage data exchange between our platform and hundreds of external healthcare endpoints.

What you'll do
- Define the technical roadmap and architectural standards for our data movement and orchestration systems.
- Proactively identify and resolve scaling or reliability bottlenecks before they impact production.
- Establish and enforce high standards for observability, including monitoring, alerting, SLOs, and safe deployment practices.
- Collaborate with product and platform groups to maintain strict security boundaries and regulatory compliance.
- Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives from initial design through to production implementation.
- Mentor senior and staff engineers while conducting rigorous design reviews to elevate team output.
- Balance the trade-offs between speed, performance, and system correctness.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant time at a staff level managing multi-quarter projects.
- Proven expertise in building and operating distributed systems, high-throughput pipelines, and data-intensive services.
- Advanced knowledge of data layers and concurrency, including experience with Postgres, Redis, and database design.
- Technical depth in networking, egress, DNS, TLS, and container runtimes.
- Production experience with GCP and container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes or Knative.
- Proficiency in a modern backend language, with a strong preference for Python (Go is also acceptable).
- Ability to communicate complex technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience with healthcare integration standards such as HL7 v2 and FHIR.
- Familiarity with EHR platforms like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth.
- Background in maintaining compliance with HIPAA and SOC 2 standards while handling protected health information.
